First race in the books!

Competed in my first race yesterday with California RoadRace Association! What an experience, I am definitely hooked now! I competed in Round 2 at the Sportsman race. This race was for anyone with a 2:20 and above lap time around Buttonwillow Raceway Park. I technically qualified with a 2:19, but was allowed to race anyway.

I thought I was going to have this in the bag, but it was a really mixed race! There was an SR/F, some 1000cc, and a few 600cc bikes to race against. I started 11th on a grid of 13 bikes, and by the first corner was in last!

Darn this Kawasaki Ninja 300! Looks like I have some work to do to get this bike more competitive.

The race winner ended up lapping me by the end of the race. When the checkered flag was dropped, I thought it was for me! Hahaha, learning experience I guess. Always count your laps! Ended up with a DNF for my first race, but now I’m hooked! Looking forward to my next race!
